The Archivorum team was back at the Antonio Ratti Foundation to present our project. This time, we enjoyed warm and sunny weather. Our visit had two main goals: to engage with the resident artists as part of the CSAV program and to showcase the project’s progress, discussing both the successes and challenges we’ve encountered, while exploring new directions for future work.

The first evening was highlighted by the opening of Ibon Aranberri’s exhibition. As this year’s guest artist, his role is to guide and inspire the residents. Titled Quaderno del campo, the exhibition was a conceptual exploration of the idea of place—specifically the Como region—microclimates, and the tensions between nature and artificiality. To top off the opening, we enjoyed some of the best pizzas I have ever tasted.

The next day, we gathered at the Foundation around 2 PM for our team’s presentation. With Stephen joining via Zoom from New York, it was a real pleasure to share the results of our work with the artists. As thinkers, their comments and questions were incredibly enriching. Several questions focused on the future of the archive: how do we maintain such an archive over the long term? Do an artist’s archives end at their death? How do we handle technological obsolescence? What can and cannot be included in an archive? These are questions that have occupied us since the beginning of the project, but it was very interesting to revisit and discuss them anew.
