Machins Machine
Sylvie Auvray
“For her catalogue, Sylvie Auvray dreamed that someone would write a detective novel. I don’t know what kind of story she had in mind. Perhaps Léo Mallet roaming the fringes of the 14th arrondissement, a case to be solved among the HBM housing blocks, the Vanves flea market, and artists’ studios?” (…)
In this new book of artist Sylvie Auvray (Born 1974, France) published with Editions Macula, Manuel Charpy, who authored the text of Machins Machine, conducts a meticulous investigation in the artist’s studio and, through a multitude of details, offers us an image of the artist’s world that is at once humorous and unsettling. The photographs by Annik Wetter, produced on the occasion of this publication, allow us to enter this artistic worksite through both panoramic and close-up views.
