ArchivorumxM is a publishing series rooted in the belief that the book is one of the most immediate, generous, and enduring forms of artistic expression.
The project takes its starting point from a phrase - and book title - by Mario Merz: “voglio subito fare un libro” (“I want to immediately do a book”). Written in 1972, Merz’s words capture the artist’s instinctive creative impulse and the urgency of communicating ideas, visions, and research through the medium of the book.
Freedom to Create
The series gives artists complete freedom to create a book on a subject of their choosing, beyond traditional constraints. The artist book becomes a space for thought, experimentation, and storytelling. ArchivorumxM invites artists who contributed to the creation of Magic Megève to develop an artist book, each paired with a niche, independent art publisher.
The strength of these collaborations has been recognised internationally: publications within the ArchivorumxM ecosystem have received The Most Beautiful Swiss Books award twice – A–A’, B–B’ by Simon Starling (2022) and The Pond Skater by Luís Lázaro Matos (2021). These accolades highlight our commitment to fostering works of significant aesthetic and cultural value.

Floating Pages is a cultural project by Archivorum, conceived in 2021 as an extension of ArchivorumxM, the publishing initiative dedicated to artist books developed within the framework of the Magic Megève project.
Floating Pages takes place during Art Basel and unfolds as a floating, itinerant bookstore on the Rhine River. The project is structured as a free, public cultural program, accessible through a hop-on hop-off water taxi connecting multiple points in the city.
Today, Floating Pages represents Archivorum’s main public program, presenting not only the publications produced within Archivorum×M, but also the wider network of editorial collaborations developed annually with international artists and independent publishers.
