Archivorum is thrilled  to be back in Basel with the third chapter of Archivorum×M, featuring a new artists' book:

After Life by Sam Falls, published by DCV Book.

Archivorum×M is a book publishing project involving artists and publishers from all over the world, with the aim of enhancing and disseminating their creativity through the medium of books.

This year, in the beautiful setting of Art Basel, we will present: After Life by Sam Falls, published by DCV Books.

Sam Falls (born 1984 in San Diego, lives and works in New York) gives up authorship of his works to the phenomena of nature. By applying water-reactive dry pigments and plant parts to support materials such as canvas, aluminium or tiles and leaving them to the effects of sun, rain and wind in a specific place over a longer period of time, he consciously incorporates the moment of chance into his work. The playful yet conceptually rigorous process is a metaphor for the transience of everything physical. Falls' symbiotic work with nature and its elements makes clear references to the technique of the photogram and to Land Art. In this way, he combines such diverse media as photography, sculpture and painting, closing the gap between artist, object and viewer.

 

Following the tradition of Floating Pages, Archivorum is back in Basel with its famous magical boat!
This year, we will again sail along the Rhine river offerring everyone an opportunity to experience art through our books and enjoy the beautiful city of Basel. The books published by Archivorum×M will all be on sale in this magical place, visible to all curious and enthusiastic visitors.

A free, hop-on hop-off, round trip boat ride on the Rhine River, displaying the new artist’s book.
From the 13th to the 15th of June 2023, from 13:00 until 21:00.
